dawn has particular interest in the impact Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), generational trauma and resilience have on adult attachment strategies and bonding.
she has also completed advanced training and supervision in the emotionally focused therapy Model which she actively uses in therapy with couples. her style blends the warmth of humanistic experiential therapies with the deep empathic attunement found in emotionally focused therapy. dawn’s goal is to support clients as they create a deepened intimate connection in their couple relationship that can withstand conflict as it arises.
dawn’s clients represent a broad diversity of culture and life experiences which brings richness to her growth as a therapist. her preference is working with couples at any stage of relationship. however, she welcomes adult families into her practice, as well.
a true advocate for inclusion and social equity, dawn also owns and serves as the executive director of an organization providing residential and day support services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and serves as an advisory board member for women’s entrepreneurial opportunity project (WEOP) an atlanta based organization with an established history and commitment to the advancement of black women in business ownership.
dawn is originally from omaha, ne. She attended Creighton University for her undergrad studies and also obtained a master of public administration from Georgia State University. dawn is a self proclaimed foodie who enjoys entertaining friends and family, exploring local restaurants, food festivals, traveling abroad and spending quality time with her young adult daughter, maya and her fur baby, achia.
as am aamft approved supervisor, dawn assists new clinicians as they develop and progress through the licensure process.
