Cura Therapists use a variety of therapeutic techniques and interventions to help you reach your goals in therapy. Each therapist is highly trained to evaluate your needs, provide a safe environment for your exploration and give the gentle push that may be needed when it gets hard to move forward.
Cura therapists work diligently to encourage your strengths to help you realize that the answers lie within you. Change can be scary, but with a Cura Therapist by your side, you don’t need to do it alone.
Children ages 10-17 are in the most developmentally rich span of their lives. So much is changing…their bodies, their minds, their schools, their attitudes and at the same time each them is expected to be a good student, follow directions, be respectful, oh and maybe have a social and/or athletic life. All these expectations can be overwhelming for an adolescent.
signs your adolescent needs help
Do you have an adolescent that is lost in the weeds of stress, depression, and anxiety? Maybe you have noticed that their self-esteem has dwindled over an extended period of time and they can’t seem to find their confidence? Or have a developmental or academic transition found them facing an impasse? They are not alone.
its okay to ask Cura…
As parents, you want the best for your children. When they experience challenges and become unbalanced, your Cura Therapist’s goal is to find a way to bring the youthful joy back into your child’s life. Seeking support is a courageous effort for anyone, but especially for parents. The old adage, "it takes a village," reigns true in this fast paced, social media driven, demanding world.
what you can expect
At Cura, we support adolescents using individual, family and group counseling in a safe, non-judgmental environment. With all adolescent therapy, a periodic family session is incorporated to bridge the communication gap between parent and child and support you as well. Your Cur therapist will utilize a variety of creative and experiential approaches in each session to encourage exploration and expression with your child.
If a game of UNO allows the adolescent to connect and be open with the therapist, then a game of UNO it is.
If the adolescent feels the need to recap the day’s social events at school, we are ready to listen and follow their journey as needed.
Our therapists understand that adolescents will not always connect or respond to typical therapeutic language.
With that in mind, your Cura therapist will be patient, empathetic, and attuned to the modern tech savvy adolescent’s struggles and work to address their needs according to your child’s appropriate developmental perspective.
